Constructing a Mediterranean villa in the heart of Italy’s Tuscany region is a centuries-old undertaking, but proposing such a home in the middle of Texas is quite a different matter. That’s what Austin architect John Hathaway faced when he was first approached with such an offer. “Once clients Cody and Ashley Christianson asked me to design an authentic Tuscan estate that incorporated a modern feel, I knew exactly what they were looking for: something that was not only timeless but also rustic and well-grounded,” John says.
